My work explores the ambiguity of self-awareness and the portrayal of nostalgic depression. The use of abstraction extends to the subconscious sensibilities predominantly the exploration of the ‘child ego state’, or rather the suppression of it. The nostalgic nature of my work emphasises the characteristics of the child's ego state through the portrayal of playful mark-making, spatial clashes, colour dysfunctions and arbitrary compositions. My work is a form of escapism from inner perfectionist tendencies or obligations and through my work, it represents a visceral journey of truistic self-discovery.
